SCHUMI will fight
October 12th 2006 12:31
The word around the racing world is that "Schumi will fight" although Schumacher was quoted saying that he was not thinking about the championship any more. We saw the penultimate race at Suzuka, where Schumi had to retire on the 37th lap due to an engine failure. This was the first engine failure he had since 2001 what are the odds. Unfortunately it happened on the one race that could decide the championship. Schumacher was leading at this point when his engine stopped and millions of Schumacher fans hearts stopped with it I am sure as did Schumacher’s. The team did its best Schumacher did his best the engine was just too stressed out and could not survive. Schumi winning the championship title is a goal I cannot see happen. The odds are 9:1. If Schumacher is to win the world title for a record 8th time then he has to win the final race of the season. Not tough for the best racing driver the world has ever seen. But the tough part is Alonso not finishing in the top 8 if he does Schumi will still be short. Now that is something Schumacher cannot count on. In all the time I have seen him race he has been nothing short of pragmatic, he will not count his victory on someone else’s loss but it has to be of his own accord.
Alonso may or may not finish the race but I believe Schumacher will win the race. May not win him the Championship but he will certainly win the Final race of his career Brazilian Grand Prix. I like most of us has given up on the championship title but Schumacher has not given up his pride. He is by far the best there was, is, and is to come for a long time. To the racing Legend Schumacher.

Both drivers will be on fresh engines (?) for the Brazilian GP and theoretically shouldn't have any reliability problems.
However, Michael will have to use every single rev for that extra 10th of a second whereas Alonso has the luxury of 'cruising' and just make sure he is in the top 8.
So really, the only way I see Alonso not finishing in the top 8 and the race, is if he's involved in an accident of some sort.
While the odds are heavily stacked against Schumi winning his 8th world crown, I hope he at least steps into retirement with a race victory in his last ever GP.
Charles.

Alonso goin wrong short of a miracle is most unlikely. but my prayers are with schumi- Hats off to him he did his best and he put everything he had into winnin the title. and I sure he will still put everything into the next race not for the world championship but for the constructors title. Ferrari has soo much to thank Schumi for. He was in a way the savior for Ferrari.
