SPYKER MF-1

November 27th 2006 04:18

TEAM Preview 2006-2007
SPYKER MF1

The Spyker MF1 team- in full it stands for Spyker Midland F1 racing team entered Formula 1 as the first Russian team with team principle Colin Kolles of Germany. Initially the team was known as the MF1 or the Midland F1 racing team, but was sold to Spyker during the last few races of the season thus being known as Spyker MF1. In 2007 the Team is registered as Spyker F1.

The team did not qualify in the standing as they had no points to their credit. They raced with a Toyota V8 RVX-06 (2006) engine. Again as it was a not a very big team they had to compromise with the V8 engines when the rest of the track were using V6 engines with higher capacity. The team seemed confident that they could challenge the Toro Rossos, Red Bulls and BMW Saubers and establishing a place as a midfielder. But of course the team did not have a very promising season they were just about better than the Super Aguri team they were far from reaching their goal, but may be with the new Ferrari engines for 2007 they may be more competitive with the mid runners. The team was disqualified in the German GP and never raced. They had several engine problems and finished less than half the races.

The Car Full carbon fibre composite monocoque Chassis, In-house Midland MF1 Racing design. 7-speed reverse longitudinal gearbox with electrohydraulic sequential gear change, The Toyota RVX-06 8-Cylinder 2398cc engine capable of more than 700bhp and approx. 20,000rpm. The Car is good the chasis was reliable, but not challenging enough.

The team Principle in recent interviews said they are looking to be quicker with more sponsors on board and the new Ferrari Engine. Hope they do better than 2006.

2007 TEAM PREVIEW-Part 1

November 22nd 2006 16:59
Teams and Engines for 2007
Part-1(Super Aguri F1)

The Super Aguri F1 Team, can be called an all Japanese Team. With team Boss and “Aguri Suzuki” was the first Japanese Driver to taste the Podium with a well driven 3rd place way back in 1990. Finishing his career as a little after, he pursued his dream to have his team and thus the Super Aguri team was born Powered by a Honda engine, Nippon being one of the prime sponsors, and developers of the team. Its no surprise that when they say “Born in Japan” and “the Japanese Dream”.

In 2006 the team mainly used the Honda RA806E 2.4 litre V8 engine. With maximum power of over 700 bhp, over 18,500 rpm. The Chassis- Carbon fiber honeycomb construction, the team was not kidding. However as the team budget is lower than most they were not able to perform as well as most fans wold have expect. They are one one the teams using the Bridgestone tyres. Overall not an Impressive first season, but there is more to come.

Car Aero Dymanics

The team Drivers in 2006 were-
1)Takuma Sato- Japan, who raced with B.A.R Honda in 2005.
2)Sakon Yamamoto- Japan, returned to F1 in 2006 with Super Aguri after initially racing in 2001 and 2002 for a few races.
3)Frank Montagny- French, the only non Japanese driver. Test driver for Renault since 2003. and has loads of racing experience for earlier years in French F3 and F3000 etc...
4)yuji Ide-Japan, fist year of F1, a little bit of racing experience with the Japan F3 and carting.

Earlier this month the Team announced the line up for the 2007 season with Anthony Davidson from Honda joining Takuma Sato who remains their no.1 driver.

The 2007 line more promise, looking back at the 2006 season the Team finished with no points along with MF1 Toyota and STR-Cosworth who had 1 point to their credit. The Teams best finish was 10th in Brazil, Takuma Sato finishing the season well for the team and himself. The team went home having learn't a lot from the season and with that they will prepare for the 2007. It is still to be seen if the “Japanese Dream” will be realized in Super Aguri.

McLaren had a beautiful looking car and it seemed to be very fast, unfortunately for both the team and the drivers it did not work out as well. Mclaren however finished third managing to gain 24 points lead to Honda thanks to Kimi Raikkonen's struggle with a car that refused to do anything right. Kimmi's best result was second in Australia and third in Bahrain, Britain, Canada and Germany. Juan Pablo Montoya had his best in Monaco where he finished second before leaving formula one and taking up Indicar racing. Kimmi however was one of the most impressive drivers in 2006 , he had some real good drives but unfortunately he could not finish most of the races. The Car seemed to have over heating problems, steering trouble, gear box jams, name it the car faced it. Honda too had a season to forget, however they could take home more than Mclaren. Another driver who impressed most watchers was Button finishing first at Hungaroring. Alonso did not finish the race after he lost his right rear tyre. Schumacher did not make good after crashing with Pedro de la Rosa. The Italian Grand Prix heard the much awaited announcement that Micheal Schumacher was goin to retire at the end of the season being replaced by Kimmi Raikkonen a well deserved postion for Kimmi, believed to be a great driver who had more potential than anyone else on the track. Micheal Schumacher won the Italian Grand Prix without a challenge from anyone after Alonso struck a flat in the qualifier and he started P10 on the grid and latter retired. The end of the season saw the anouncement of the class of 2007 to be. In 2007 two more teams the Spiker MFI and Toro Rosso will be using Ferrari engines and Williams will use a Toyota engine.

2006 season review-Part 1

November 1st 2006 05:27
With the 2006 race season's spectacular season overmost drivers and teams are ready to take a break and take it easy before they start testing and get back to racing in 2007. The 200 season was undoubtedly one of the best season in a long long time, and it would be worth looking back at the season to see how things went for the class of 2006 and introduce the class of 2007 with the new race rules and the chenges within the teams.
The 2006 season started with Alonso and renault determined towin the season and it seemed that Ferrari and Schumacher could not do anything to stop it. But the second half of the season had a whole new twist to the season. Renault without doubt got the best of the season winning both the constructors title and the world championship. Alonso would be delighted with his performance winning two consecutive seaons. Fernando Alonso moves to Mc laren next season, but he made good racing for Renault in 2006 winning the Championship position with 134 points, 7 Wins, 6 Poles, owing to 5 Fastest laps. Schumacher came back chared in the scarlet Ferrari to show the world he was not goin down without a fight and what a fight it was comming back 10 races down and alonso having 5 race wins Schumacher had a tough task ahead. Michael Schumacher racing for Ferrari secured 2nd place in the championship with 121 points with equal 7 wins with Alonso, and 4 Poles, with 7 Fastest laps. he was teh fastest man this season. Massa did well to finght with Ferrari proving that he was a good catch winning 2 races this season and securing Third place for Ferrari and Fisichella and Button went on to win one race each. Ferrari won 9 races, Renault won 8 and Honda won one race. However Kimmi and Mclaren had a year to forget. Although they finished 3 unfortunately their best was just "Best of the Rest".
